Stunned on politics

i’m completely torn. i have been for some time now. i can say with much assurance that i do not like Bush… but i’m more iffy on Kerry that i think i ought to be at this current stage of the game. i also don’t feel like any of the other candidates out there do it for me either. it’s almost like a “Goldilocks and the Three Bears” syndrome… This porraige is too hot… this porraige is too cold… but i’m stunned to find that there isn’t a bowl that’s just right!

One of the biggest things for this election year was that i begged and begged Steve to vote. He’s never voted before in any election and so i went on and on about how voting is important; that it’s a given right as a citizen, and it’s your civic duty! And now that we’re sitting on the precipice of elections, i’m am considering opting out. Not opting out of everything, but opting out of voting for the presidency. Of course, i also feel that that excludes me the right to complain about who ever is in office for the next four. (If you aren’t going to do something about it, then you can’t complain!)

But isn’t the president somewhat of a front for the real power of this country? After all, the president can’t really do anything without Congress, right?? So why don’t congressional elections get as much press as the presidency?
